In October of 2007 we met Tom Gurka and Tom Gurka Jr. at a "Showcase of Homes" in Saratoga County. There they were behind a ready-made beautiful oak bar with a Mega Touch game sitting on top of the bar. My husband had just talked about knocking out a wall in our sunroom and putting a bar such as this in that part of the room. All Tom and Tom Jr. had to say is: "We also do custom barrooms!" That started the ball rolling and by January of 2008, we were starting construction on something that is so much more than we had imagined it would be. The whole process from my husband and I going to Tom Sr.'s basement to see his beautiful bar (as well as his media room and game room) to discuss what we wanted to do, to the completion of the project seemed like a fleeting moment because everything just fell into place. Tom and Tom thought of everything you can imagine to enhance the barroom and make it OUR own. The lighting is phenomenal, the cabinets and the bar itself are top shelf. They even took care of the framing of all the prints we bought. All of the Gurkas had a hand in our project. The ladies had suggestions and Mary and Tom went with me to pick out the tile for the floor. The bar stools and chairs are elegant and comfortable. I could go on and on but I just want to say that when our sons (3 live out of state and 1 lives in town) come home, they enjoy "Denny's Dugout", as our son, Tim named it, and they definitely come home to the best bar in town!
